Malaria Risk in Darjeeling/Sikkim?
I'm going to be visiting the area in 3 weeks(mid October to mid November) and I'm still not desided on whether to use an anti Malarial. In the past I'v avoided taking one in areas such as Yunnan in China when I'm going to be over 2000 meters almost the entire time but these reports of a new strain in NE India has me considering it.

We are also going to Sikkim in November. I have never used anti malarials in Thailand, Vietnam or Yunnan and had no problem.
I am reluctant to take anti malarials as the risk in Sikkim seems low but nay areas are below 2000m and we will also be in Kolkata and Delhi before and after. I have been convinced that the odds of contracting malaria are high enough to take anti malarials on this trip. Cheers |
