Malaria - Darjeeling

Hello. Am looking for anecdotal stuff from people in Darjeeling at the moment on the malaria situation. I'm travelling to Darjeeling, on way to Sikkim, in about three weeks. I've been advised by travel health clinic that malaria medication isn't absolutely necessary in the area that I'm going to, because of the altitude, but I've read elsewhere about outbreaks in Darjeeling. Are you there at the moment? If you are, are you taking anything? If you're not, did you look into it before hand, and how safe do you feel without?

I realise that anything posted will be purely anecdotal, and promise I won't come and sue you if I end up getting malaria'd out.

Area of Risk
India

All areas, including the cities of Delhi and Bombay. Risk in areas at altitudes <2,000m (<6,561ft) in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, and Sikkim.

Some nasty stuff going on in the northeast just now. How come the doc didn't know about it.?

I am heading to Sikkim and HP too later this month...
