Low cost generics in danger

Indian Parliament, on the way to ban local production of low cost generic medicines. The bill must still be sanctioned by the Upper Chamber, after being approved by the parliament lower house, before it becomes law.

All the arguments given by politicians are probably right, but " who is going to look after the ill persons with HIV and other pandemic maladies in the third world???

The answer is most probably blowing in the wind, will say the ultra-neocom-liberals.

Somehow, I feel that the pressure is comming from foreign govt's that codle their own multinational drug companies. India is a large market and they want a piece of it.

I doubt if India will really benefit from the wonder drugs of today (viagra etc) which appears to be where the research is being focussed on.
