Question Looking to study ayurveda; please suggest cheapest but reputable place

Hello everyone,

I'd like to take a brief (under a month) but preferably intensive certificate course in ayurveda as an introduction, perhaps to continue studying more extensively in the future.

I've looked at quite a few programs, but they all seem really expensive. Are the costs generally comparable, or do you know of any good centers (preferably in the north, but south is okay, too) that are cheaper than average?

Thanks so much!

Cheap and best is the Government Ayurvedic Medical College at Pune. It is the place where some reputed Ayurvedic Doctors with a name in the West got their degree (Vasanth Ladh, Frawley, Svoboda). Very reputed Ayurvedic doctors practise in Pune.

under a month course? Anyone who offers one is a fraud. You say you are interested in a "certificate" course. May I ask why? Are you planning on practising ayurveda after the course.

May I recommend that you watch (if you have not seen it) a documentary by Pan Nalin ? It is shows occasionally here in the US on Link channel (linktv.org) . INMHO, after month you'll probably be qualified to just take a patient's pulse. more info: http://www.ayurvedacollege.com/Ayurv...osis_000.ht m

I'm interested in an intro course. I don't want to commit to anything more before doing this. Afterwards, I can decide whether I want to continue with a more serious course or not.

What would you like to study: massage , diets or daily routine or pulse reading?
It took me 6 months, checking the pulse of about 300 patients every day before I started to understand a little what it was all about.
If you know what you realy would like to know I might be able to give you some advice.

Kala,

I think some universities here in the US might meet your objectives better. Here are some links from googling..
