In Germany shots against JE are only advised for trips longer than 4 weeks to rural areas in India.
The vaccine has no approval in Germany and so you have to sign a paper that you are taking the shots at your own risk. The side affects of the vaccination can be severe, so it is worth considering whether the shots are really necessary for you. Unfortunately, the disease has very serious side affects, too and often leads to death or irreversible brain damage. As mentioned in a post before, the virus needs a special bird, pigs and paddy fields to develop. I was told by a specialized doc that only in this combination it can exist. I would take my decision depending on the area you are travelling. |
