Jap E in Benares/Nepal?

Hi,
I'm looking at heading to Nepal in the next few weeks, or to Varanasi, but have been hearing mixed reports about the outbreak of Jap E from various travellers around india (also riots in Kathmandu??). Please share your knowledge on the situation in particular the risks involved. I have been looking on the net for info, but as you'll probably know, india internet surfing is a very very slow process.
Thanks heaps.

Since it is another mosquito borne illness (like dengue and malaria), try to use bug repellant. Hope this helps.

Nice site, in particular the border of UP and Nepal tends to have it as well as part of Andhra..

from what my travel doctor told me that the risk areas are mostly rural farm areas where there are pigs and rice paddies.he told me if I stay in mostly the urban areas and use a mossie net and deet the risk is pretty low.I would go see one yourself and let figure out or risks then decide.
