ISO site to lookup generic equivalent meds

I searched and I might have overlooked a post, but in case I did not, can someone list a website I can lookup equivalents for American meds? I cannot imagine one is not out there. I have just not found it yet. Thanks! ...Going to Goa again in September!

This 'Medication Manual' lists the Indian brandnames for generic drugs.

Nick-H , in case you are not aware of it, for offline reference on Indian medicines CIMS(Current Index of Medical Specialities)is the one favoured by the doctors and medical stores. Its usually available in all major bookstores.

Thanks... I wasn't aware of that either.

Thankfully, one doesn't need these things too often, but when one does it is nice to be able to check things out.

Useful info. For cross-reference purposes, the U.S. equivalent to CIMS is the Physicians' Desk Reference, available in hard copy and also on line at http://www.pdr.net/login/Login.aspx

Just ask any chemist. They usually have such a book in the shop. I've used it several times to track down names of the drugs I needed!

...I tried a pharmacist once, looking for an antihystamine cream containing a local anaesthetic for my bad mossie bites.

He thumbed through his book for a few minutes, pointed to something and asked if I wanted to try that one?

I read the description: General Anaesthetic!
