OK, why not. An Indian Ayurvedic teacher once gave me the rap about floating vs. sinking. Apparently a popular benchmark.

In Oriental Medicine, we actually can base a lot of diagnostics on stools and bowel movements, as well as urination, though I'll spare you the details.

My apartment in Amsterdam had an old toilet from the era when people would examine their poo - it landed on a shelf, as opposed to straight into water for easy viewing. Talk about a nice surprise for your guests...

For me the short answer is yes, stools can be an indicator of health if you know what you're looking for.

So, anyone heading to Scatmandoo?

The Bristol Stool Form Scale is a useful tool in poo analysis. Feel free to print it off and take it to the toilet with you. In fact an even better idea would be to get it printed on a roll of nice, soft tissue paper so that it might serve a dual purpose.
Type 3 or 4 is ideal.

Jokes apart... this is a scientific fact.

Owls shit through their mouth. I kid you not.

Komodo dragons and owls regurgitate undigested material thru their mouths. There may be other animals, but these two i have read about.

BTW, they also shit thru their errr.... other end.

I've always worked on the presumption, if you can make a little hill of stool, you're OK. If it all just runs away you should take care of yourself. This really only works on squat toilets.
