Insurance help!

I have searched through the threads trying to get this answered and I have not yet found it so if this is a repeat, I apologize. Anyway, I am looking for a good yet very affordable international insurance policy for a US citizen. I have received a few quotes but nothing that has really sounded very appealing to me. Can anyone reccomend an insurance company and also perhaps a rate I should expect to pay for a three week trip for a 21 year old? Thanks!

hmm if you are going to spend three weeks in the Ananda Spa nr Rishikesh the only insurance you would need is from drowining in their swimming pool... or dying from pleasure when receiving a luxury ayurvedic massage...

that's me full of envy

oops, no I will only be spending three nights at Ananda the rest of the time will be in Delhi, Rajasthan, etc. Ananda is just a way for me to spoil myself before I return to US and life.

I have used www.travelguard.com (underwritten by AIG). I've never filed a claim though. You can book your coverage via the website.

I just did a quote with travelgaurd, it's not completely transparent. I wasn't sure if I'd be covered for all eventualities...and still the quote came to $900 which is over 3 times the price I have been quoted by my preferred provider. If you are in UK/Ireland I recommend USIT Travel Insurance. I have been quoted 270 euro for an 8 month trip, this is with a very comprehensive level of cover.
Are US prices that much more expensive than European?
Perhaps there are international equivalents of USIT...SAYIT/ISIC?

for 21 day trip, with just medical / evacuation coverage quote is only $36 USD with travelguard.com. If you want trip cancellation insurance it's a bit more.

travelguard is good for trips of 30 days or less. after 30 days, their prices go off the carts.

Yeah. I've paid $68 to Travelguard for a two-week trip, with some additional coverage for gear but not for cancellation.

Travel Insurance

I work for a seattle based travel agency and we sell travel insurance with Travel Insured. The good thing about travel insured is that it acts as your primary insurance while traveling for medical or accidental emergencies. This can be a great benefit if you do end up having a claim.

You can find out about my company and services through my signature below or private messaging me for additional details.

also if you have an American Express card they have very affordable travel insurance. It covers mulitple trips per year any place 150 miles from you hometown, but any one trip cannot be longer than 31 days.
