Insurance for valuable items on another policy?

Hi,

I'm pretty sure i will use world nomads insurance for my trip, however the policy will not cover my expensive camera!!! Can I get out insurance with another company that will cover the value of the camera (& accessories) abroad? If so, know of any companies that would do so?

The personal item limits are quite stingy on all the travel insurances i've seen so far! From £150-500 only!

Anyway thanks for any help.

Rather than buying a separate camera insurance (which is possible) I'd have thought it would be more cost effective to find one policy that covers your travel AND your camera. It's normal for the single item limit on personal baggage to not be more than about £300, however, if you ring the insurance companies concerned they will offer you the additional cover, albeit at an additional cost. I had the same problem with my laptop. My travel insurance provider though wanted to charge me an extra £50 to cover it for a 1-week trip! When I searched for laptop insurance on google I found that I could get a whole years, worldwide cover for £40! so do a little research!

I have also been looking at the Nomads policy and they allow individual cameras to be insured up to the value of $1000 Australian dollars for an additional cost of 5% for a 3 month period. How much is the camera worth??

They gave an example: a camera worth $1000 dollars on a trip of 4 months = an additional $45 AUD to be added to policy. I didnt think that was bad????
