infecting people when coming home

could someone tell me if they've heard anything about infecting people with diseases from india upon arriving home. i don't think i have anything, i've actually been surprised at how few mosquitos i've encountered here. however, i'm gonna be around small children (my sister doesn't vaccinate her kids at all), and i'm sure something's floating around my body. so should i be concerned?

No worries, mate. Just don't share needles with them.

This concern came up when I gave a blanket to a toddler last time. I told them I had it decontaminated in the freezer , which is what I do with all my clothes on returning : straight in to the freezer or the washing machine.
Most diseases have a incubation period of a few weeks. Then again , malaria can apppear after years - but can`t be transferred between humans.
Without symtoms, I wouldnt worry. Symtomfree hospital staff that have had GE are allowed to work without restrictions here when returning.
If you are dealing with toddlers and have a queasy stomach I would suggest extra care with hand hygiene until its over.

Many years ago, I did get bacillic dysentery from someone who had just returned from Afghanistan -- but that is highly contagious.

Please ask your MD for a parasite test when you return, to be sure you do not have anything. And be extra careful about handwashing, before eating, playing with children, etc. until you know for sure that you did not bring anything back.
