India in September

I am planning to go to India with my girlfriend in the first half of September (31.08-17.09.2007). Does anybody know how is the weather in North-India in this time of year? I am specially interested of weather conditions in Delhi, Varanasi, Jaipur and Agra and also Rajahstan generally.

Hi,

I went to all those places in September 2 years ago, other then it raining in Varanasi every evening and the power going, it was fine. Though I like the rain, so had no issue with it. Heat wise I found it bearable and I'm from cold ol' blighty.

Hope that helps.

Beena,

Did it rain only in Varanasi? And what you mean by "power going"?

Sorry,

By "power going", I mean the electrity went while it was raining in the evening and yes in the whole month I was there I only experienced rain in Varanasi. Hope that makes its clearer.

Hot in Delhi & Rajasthan. Though very dry most of the year, they can have some heavy rain and flooding in September. Varanasi is quite far from Rajasthan.

Generally the weather in the proposed months of visiting are hot and humid since it rains in Northern India during this season.

Sorry, guess I should have said they have massive flooding in Rajasthan. Last year at least 130 people died in floods there. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...ow/1932695.cms

It's just so hard to put that together with how dry it is in winter (when we were just there).

I have been in Delhi during the monsoon and they also always have massive flooding.

Don't know why I was being so moderate

I agree with you on Rajasthan..but please consider that it was a particular district of Rajasthan and I am sure its not in tourist circuit.

Secondly it was the worse that had happened in 300 years..

About Delhi, Delhi has a problem with drainage system and that is the reason water logs...you cannot consider that flooding..

even though the level of water does go up in Yamuna and it might overflow in very small areas..

I have been born and brought up in Delhi and I belong to Rajsthani family..

I just went back in time . . .

thanks to www.wunderground.com

On Sept. 6, 2006 the high in Varanasi was 35C . . . low, 28 . . . just a trace of rain . . . wind 6km/hr, gusting to 39 . . . humidity @ 90% . . .

Evening rains can still be expected, as well as high humidity. The Ganges should be nearing it maximum flow.

I give up. Feel free to ignore all my posts on this subject. Obviously there is a lack of communication of what the word "flood" means. Here in the U.S. the cause can be from anything from a broken sewer, broken washing machine to mother nature once in 100-300 years.

I defer to shashank as a proven expert of all things connected with Rajasthan & Delhi. as I've only been a vistor.
