how to wash your bum with a bucket? (serious)

I hope this topic isn't too sketchy for IM (i'm new here, so don't want to do anything taboo).

but.... i've arrived in Chennai, and all the toilets (on top of being putrid and totally unclean) only have a small bucket and water or a tap.

i'm new to this... and i might sound ridiculously stupid. but how are you supposed to hygenically clean your bum with just these tools? won't things be wet? won't your hand be covered in soiled water? how does it work?

(i'm totally serious, i've just never been taught)

ugghh... I hate to get so graphic... but it's like...
using a toilet paper (when there is none), you turn the small bucket near the target area and using the finger tips of the other hand direct a water jet to the 'target area' and then swipe with the finger as you would with a toilet paper... some stuff comes on to your fingers .. then wash the whole hand with the tap.

ughgh ughghg ... damn images come to my mind.

LOLZ..h ha ha ha ah ah..

On a serious note

see most of the toilets will have water and a Mug and/OR bucket..basically a device to fill water from the tap..

once you have the water in the device, hold it with your right hand and take it behind..and tilt it a bit so that water starts falling slowly..make sure that it falls in the center (cant be more explicit)..Lolz

and from left hand you are supposed to wipe making use of the left hand..

now I am not sure how to explain it better..maybe some other member can explain it better..

how prudish we all are...and i thought it was just the brits! cant we say words like shit and arse? What are we so scared of...we put food in one end and shit comes out the other. It's not a bad thing...it's just what happens.

There again, i'm as shy as the next person when i'm not on an internet forum

Anyway, just use the water to wash your arse and then give your hands a good wash after. I must say it all feels far more natural than using paper and either flushing it into the sea, or, even worse, leaving it for someone else to deal with

On the steering if my uncle needs to ask direction at the approaching cross road..... he asks... "which way guys? eating or washing?"

Shashank... u cud not be more particular on that!

Yes.....it feels more fresh with water.....but not necessarily with hands....I am happy with sprays...but not possible with the options of toilets u have, Gelf

How about buying that small handheld water-gun kids use at Holis to spray colors on their friends? I think we can manange.....may be we will have to hold it side-flipped and thumb at the 'trigger'

As I understand it, it is a non-contact technique.

Do not rub the back-side (arsehole, anus, etc etc... ) but pour water onto the hand, splashing it on said anatomy until clean.

We have a spray in our toilet: clean, effective, refreshing. Toilet paper not welcome in this house!

Could be bad if you confuse it with the toy gun that is actually a cigarette lighter

Man walks into a bank, says, This gun is loaded, hand over the money.

The cashier just laughs. That's a banana!

Jesus! I must have eaten the gun!
