Hi
I have a blood condition which means I must take an electronic blood testing machine and bits n bobs to India with me. The whole thing comes in a black bag that looks like a camera or laptop bag. Obviously I don't want to walk around with it all day. What should I do with it? Padlock the zips shut, and secure it to something in my room with a wire lock? Padlock the zips shut and hide it in my rucksack? Give it to hotel / guest house management for safekeeping? It's worthless to anyone who doesn't need it, but it cost me £400 and without it I'd need to go to a hospital or fly home. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated! (I've never been to India before so excuse the ignorance) x |

Hi Dimessage,
I think that to really ease your worries of security re your machine & the curtailing of your trip if you lose it then perhaps you're going to have to carry it with you, Can't a shoulder/day bag be adapted to carry it around, It would be a little less conspicuous than a black bag. The only other option seems to be, If you're staying in a reliable place to actually show the management of your hotel what it is and explain why you need it etc, P'haps someone else has had a similar problem,,,,,,, Good Luck & Happy Traveling |

It depends on where you go and in what type of hotels you stay. Mid to upper level hotels will have lockable cupboard in the room. Upscale hotels will have some kind of locker or clock room facilities to safe keep your baggage.

I carry a laptop with me. I leave it in the backpack, padlock the zips, secure the whole thing with a wire to something sturdy.
I dont want to carry it around and I would probably forget it somewhere anyway. |

Thanks for the responses guys.
I think the best option is to pay a bit more to stay somewhere I feel comfortable leaving it in my backpack (locked) and secured, if there isn't a lockable cupboard etc to put it in. This is the first big trip I've done since I got it, so I'll have to see how it goes. Very annoying to have to take anything that actually matters if I lose it!x |
