Excellent stuff!

EliVerona could have no idea what she would be starting here: I hope she recalls it as she enjoys her lassi in India!

a lad traveling through Varanasi
was in search of that one special lassi
from papaya to mango
his mind wouldn't tango
but the "Special" one, ah, that was sassy

When venturing to Varanasi
remember to try a sweet lassi
Whether mango or special,
no ice please or else they'll
make you unhappily gassy!

If that's not lesson enough and you want a more graphic version:

A visitor thought it quite funny
to have lassi with mango and honey
but with ice in there too
when she went to the loo
things turned out distressingly runny...

I'm having a mini-limerick obsession here. Your fault Nick!

The Indiamikers decided
That limericks must be provided
but Nick ran away
leaving others to play
and deserves to be thoroughly chided!

ETA I actually did have a special lassi in Varanasi. So, I guess:

If you like to part with your reasoning
Ask for a lassi with seasoning
for all you disobedients
that extra ingredient
will have you laughing all evening!
Mosquitos suck.

There once was an old desi from Nantucket
who had only ever used a hand and a bucket
Till one ill-fated day

Probably don't do a lassi when you first get to India. Let your stomach get used to the bacterias for awhile. Varanassi has the best bhang lassis if you really want to add some pizazz to your riverfront walks. Go easy though or you'll end up sleeping along the river. Best shop go to the end of the street from main ghat and there is a little shop on the main intersection when you hit the first large cross street. Happy trails

An Indiamiker, after a drink
once made everyone think:
if the loo's down the hall
is it a problem, at all
to politely pee in the sink?

I am going to stop now or I won't, ever!

There was a man from Mumbai
Who went on a lassi-tasting trip to Chennai
At every village tavern
He sought the drink at his turn
He only realized 'twas bhang when he wound up in Madurai.

I love lassi and I am probably going to India (1st time) possibly in June. If you request no ice, is the lassi at least somewhat cold?

EAST or WEST Lassi of Amritsar is the best

As far as drinking lassi goes.. i guess for stayin healthy and fresh especially during summer of india.. one shld drink a glass full of lassi everyday... i would advise of havin sweet lassi as the sweetness also helps one regaining the lost of sugar from one's body

and in Amritsar .. no one adds ice
