On the fifth complaint, the service manager himself went to the customer's house and inspected the appliance. He too found nothing wrong with it. However, he started questioning the household on the way the fridge was used - how much was it loaded with, how many times was its door opened, etc. etc. It was then that a little child in the household innocently remarked that the door of the refrigerator was open all night as his father slept before it on the floor !!! It was summer, you see !!

Talk of ways of beating the heat !!!
best tip so far...
ill surely try this one

There is another way, a bit unorthodox, of course.. but it works sometime..
If you have a air cooler turned on, and still feeling the heat.. turn it off for some time.. and then turn it on.. u will feel it working this time.. the same could be done with a fan

Don't take it seriously Vero...the fridge will likely produce more heat than cooling because the compressor will have to overwork. No wonder their fridge wasn't working properly.

My summer beat-the-heat habits:

4 cold showers a day
Plenty of water to drink
Watermelon, nimbu-paani once a while
Buttermilk with a dash of salt and a leaf of grapefruit
No spicy food, No greasy, oily or rich food, No lentils
Plenty of greens and veggies...rice and no rotis.
Curd+rice with a dash of lemon pickle...
TEA!!! This is the best thing to have in summer.
A crew-cut for head
Tee Shirts and shorts.
Lungis for bedtime.
No sex.

High, sloped ceilings, tiled roofs, wooden false ceilings, thick walls, clay-tiled floors - these were the stuff old buildings had, and even in the peak of summer, these buildings were quite comfortable to live in. the modern day concrete structures could be less expensive and more practical, but most of them are quite badly designed to keep the heat away.

Stick to this, you wont feel woozy at all, good one. One small tip, buy 2 sodas, wash the glass with 1 soda, use the other for the drink. It's amazing how rejuvenated you feel after a small sip of salt lime soda in the blazing 3'o clock heat. puts a spring in your step.

Wet Towels do give relief in the summers, but thats bad for back (may lead to back pains at older age) - if you do it once or twice its ok, but for localites doing that every sumemr is very harmful

It is a new item to me (& would like to taste it ) . It sounds like Bel(wood apple) panna. The difference may be that, the aam pora sirbat is made up of green mango & the panna may be of ripe one.
