Question Hospitals in India

Hi all,

I'm leaving for India for the first time on Weds & was just wondering if any one could point me in the direction of a list of recommended hospitals. My doc has advised me to take one should I fall ill.......

Consult guidebooks. They usually include a list of recommended hospitals + contact info. I could't find a spot-on thread here in indiamike for now.

The Apollos are excellent, I believe. I've experience from Delhi (I spent six days there), but even though they are relatively cheap for many western travellers, better have travel insurance. Which reminds me, consult your travel insurance company for hospitals they recommed. When I fell seriously ill, my friends called my travel insurance company, and they told us what to do ("have ploink checked at the Apollo hospital in Delhi", that is. They paid for my flight to Delhi and all. ).

Apollo Hospitals: Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chenganur, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Madurai, Anantpur, Nellore, Kurnool, Bhopal, Ranchi, Bilaspur and Bacheli.

Apollo Clinics: Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai.

there are many good quality hospitals in every big city in india....appolo, escorts, max medicare.. or any big hospital...but u have to keep your eyes open and have a second opinion from some other doctor if possible.......bacause now a days consulting the doctor has become something like going for car repair.....they tend to make lengthy bills....

If only I had the courage to post a photo of myself with my bill from the Apollo hospital in Delhi. It's almost as long as I am tall!

Sorry.

But don't worry jollygirl!
