As a ball park,
I stayed in a hospital (if you can call it that) for a week after a road accident. I had no insurance ( ) and in total I cost me about Rs15000.

No idea.
I stayed in the Apollo hospital in Delhi for almost a week in 2004/2005, and it cost my insurance company about 40 000 (!) rupees (+ a hell of a lot more... ). But the Apollo is expensive.

In-hospital treatment for malaria in an average hospital for 5 days should cost just about Rs 5000-7000.

8 hours of i.v. infusions, some of them relatively expensive, to cure an intestinal infection and/or infestation in Mussoorie (2003) was some USD 300. Very efficient, and thus good value.

My bloke was in hospital with Malaria over Xmas/New Year - his mate paid the bill and I said I'd give him the money. I'm in England so therefore can't see the bill - just wanna make sure I'm not stitched up!!

no not fully recovered - he has to keep going back to the hospital and sometimes when I speak to him he sounds not quite with it!

Hope things work out for the best, at least they know how to diagnose and treat Maleria over there.
Not like in the UK when both NHS Direct & a doctor told a student that she had Flu despite being told she had just come back from a maleria region. She died a week later from Maleria. |
