Hey Jadeskirt,Thanks you liked my name...
If i recall it correct there is a hotel named "fairlawn" it is owned by a foreigner and is really a nice and neat and tidy hotel and the owners are really helpful couple. It is in sudder street. Just get in touch with them.
There is one more option for you, the West Bengal Tourism are having their hotels, which are much cheaper then private owned and are really neat and clean, i have stayed in their hotel and i found them out to be good ones. They are having their office in BBD Bagh (Dalhousi square). People are really helpful at the office and they will suggest the best stay for you as per your condition and your budget. Believe me it is really cheap as compared to others and also better then others on the given conditions.
I would suggest you to move on to Darjeeling as now it would be difficult for you to bear up the sultry weather of Kolkata when already you have problem and i am sure you would love being in Darjeeling. Or just go to some nearby town of Kolkata, preferably close to sea...like Diamond Harbor, it is close to Kolkata and also going to be a less burden on your pocket.
Let me know if i can be of any help to you.
Wish you fast recovery and best of health.

Fairlawn is very nice, and does have ground-floor rooms, but it is 'way more than the Rs.700 the OP said she could afford. The map is not the territory. --Alfred Korzybski

Congratulations on finding a place to stay!
And good work Xaverian for making it happen!
We have been following this thread and were concerned for your wellbeing, though we had no useful advice to offer.
We wish you a quick recovery.

Still in India?
Hi-
I just came upon your posts and I'm struck by the similarities in our interests. I would love to chat with you about your experiences these past years if that is possible. Is there a way I can contact you?
Thanks
Eric
Hope your ankle is all better by now.
