Hi Gary, welcome to India Mike!

Sorry if this sounds unhelpful, but you really do need to be consulting the NHS about this, rather than asking on here about how to ensure the health of your children! Yes, we have members who can give you professional medical advice, but we also have nutters who have advocated homoeopathic alternatives.

As a new member, you might not find it easy to distinguish those who do know what they're talking about.

While I sort of understand people on a very tight budget who live in countries with no health systems feeling that they have to accept free advice from amateurs, there really isn't any reason for you to do so.

Members of this travel forum can only offer their opinions, but if you are interested in people's views, do take a look at the many threads about this on the Health and Wellbeing in India forum.

I also encourage you to consult with a pediatrician. However, please supplement that with some personal research. Some are too quick to recommend Larium which I find hazardous. Also, a parent needs to know the range of potential problems, rare or otherwise, in case of an individual reaction. My boy thrived on one regimine and I had a modest effect to take into account..

Yet again, I offer this link, from which can be downloaded the NHS recommendations on travel and malaria: here.

Please see also the site updates, and note that Goa is one of the higher-risk places in India
