Glasses / Contact Lenses (again!!)
Hello! I know there are several threads on this topic already, but having read them I'm still not sure what to do - so maybe people can advise? Usually I wear contact lenses almost constantly when I'm travelling as it means I can wear my sunglasses (which are non-prescription). Do people think I will be OK with lenses or do I now need to consider forking out for prescription sunglasses? I'd really prefer lenses if possible because I hate the idea of switching between sunglasses/regular glasses and carrying different pairs around with me. At the moment I wear monthly lenses. Should I get dailys instead? (assuming they're available for my prescription). I would of course be careful to use antibacterial hand wipes etc. but does this in itself pose a problem if you end up getting your hand cleaner in your eyes?? (I'm thinking of situations where there isn't water and you rely on wipes etc.)
I've also read interesting info. on getting glasses in India. I wouldn't like to rely on this as I might be pushed for time and would like to know I don't HAVE to go looking for eyewear, but in case I get round to it, can someone recommend opticians in Delhi?? (somewhere that stocks nice 'western'-style frames)?? Any advice would be very much appreciated!!! (only 6 weeks to go!!!) ![]() |

I brought daily disposable lenses on my trip, but only wore them about half the time as your eyes dry out on train/bus trips and it was just easier to grab my glasses a lot of the time. I used dettol wipes to clean my hands and just rinsed my fingertips with a little bottled water before putting them in, didn't have any problems.
I also picked up a pair of glasses in Delhi, only took 3-4 hours for them to check my prescription and make the glasses up for me. Optical Palace in Connaught Place (also have a branch in Karol Bagh) were excellent - good range of frames, helpful staff, etc etc. The glasses, with pretty funky frames and non-reflective lenses, ended up costing me about AU$50 (about US$35-40?) |
