Getting shaved-infections ?
Getting shaved-infections ?
hey,
as i ll be leaving in two days and am just packing my stuff i really wondered if i can leave my shaver at home...
barber shops sound real good to me, but i have some questions.
what about infections?
does the barber use a knife or whatever or do they use throw away blades?
does one usually see them unpacking the new blade???
please help me out with some infos.. cus if shaving in india is safe i really would like to leave my shaver at home.
peace!

you get shaveing sticks everywhere in medical/pharmist shops, the use 3 times(or more) dispose kind. They are very safe.
Barbers use new blades for each shave, actually half a blade, if you want to on the safer side you, u can request the barber to use a new blade, which i thnk he will gladly oblige

shaving in India is one of the best experiences!!!
they are just great !!!
they always use new blades!!!
but two things makes me wonder: they nearly never change the towel to clean your face (maybe once a day
)
they nearly never change the water in the little cup in front oy you
(maybe twice a day
)
but after some hundreds od shaves in India I m still alive(no infections whatsoever)

Yes getting a shave and massage was one of the most REAL expericences for me on my India trip.
The advise givin to me by the erstwhile Bijapuri was, "Always ask for a new blade (straight edge razor blade), and make sure you SEE them change it in front of you." With that in mind, you are good to go and enjoy.

I've never taken a razoe with me
I've been shaved in fancy beauty parlours ...I wont tell you how much that cost me...and I've been shaved on the roadside
never had an infection never had a problem
Some were better than others
So leave your razor and get pampered

I got a few shaves. All but one was great.
I got a haircut at...correction.. I got talked into one..on one of those sidewalk shaving places.
Chai late from the street vendor and the best haircut I have ever had. I reckon the barber must have manicured every hair.
Fantastic! I can't remember how much it was, but, I was next to nothing. I was so happy I gave a great Tip.

Having a Indian shave is top priority on my list when first arriving in India,you won't need another shave for 2-3days. Barbers shops in India are everywhere. In Delhi you'll find plenty of street barbers with just a wooden chair & a mirror hanging from the wall. There are at least 4 on the main st in Mcleod that are very clean.

If you like the street food, you'll probably like the street barber, and the street dentist too(kidding)! See the following thread for some food for thought .....Are Indian Street Barbers Safe/Hygienic?
