Getting Malaria Pills in Mumbai
Hi, i know their are threads like this but i need to make it more specific.
I just found out my insurance wont cover my Malerone and its going to be about 250 dollars. I'll have a few days to hang out in Mumbai to get the drugs working when i get there. Geeze honestly i can get them here its just a huge dent in my pocket. Can I get Malerone there? And even if i can should i just get it here beforehand. thanks |

Yes, it's fine to wait and buy it in India. For one thing, the incidence of infections is relatively low in major metros, so it's not a *huge* deal to show up unprotected. But better, the price for the tablets is refreshingly reasonable. I use Mefloquinine, which is the pill you take once a week. I can get a strip of 8 or 10 tablets for Rs 250. I'm sure your medication will be equally affordable. Note that there are different trade names used in India. For mine it's called "Mefloc" and "Mefloq", depending on the manufacturer. The first time I went there I gave the pharmacist my prescription for Larium, the trade name used in America. It took him a while to find the Indian equivalent, but once he located it everything else came together quickly. The pills were in my hand, cash was paid, and I was on my way.
