Freaking.. Pregnant in HYD

Yeah, so I just found out I'm pregnant.. well, a few days ago. I kinda suspected it for a few weeks.. by my calculations, I'm 7 weeks..

But I'm having some crampy pain (worse after having intercourse today.. it's seriously painful) kind of like the ovarian cyst feeling for you ladies who've experienced them..

Anyway I was reading online and I'm pretty freaked out, I want to get an ultrasound to see if the pregnancy is in the uterus. I'm paranoid but can't understand why I'm having pain where my ovaries hurt when I get a big ol' cyst on them..

I'm in Hyderabad, btw. If I go to the doctor, will they give me an ultrasound? Is it illegal?

Also.. does anyone know an midwife or maternity clinic in HYD?

Thanks alot. I hope everything is okay.. I'm naturally a worrier. This pregnancy is my first and frankly, it's a surprise. It seems the moment I knew I was pregnant for sure (home pregnancy tests..) I started thinking something is wrong, but today I REALLY think so..

Congratulations on the pregnancy. Sorry to hear that you are in pain. It is not unusual to have implantation cramps after you conceive, but if you are 7 weeks gone, these are not they.

My suggestion would be that you seek out an OBGYN and have a quick USS (ultrasound scan). They are not illegal in India - they are a useful diagnostic tool. It is not normal to be in serious pain purely because you are pregnant. If this is an ectopic (as the tone of your email suggests you think it is), you need to know sooner rather than later.

If you see a doctor privately in a clinic or hospital, many of them have US scanners in their rooms, so you don't need to travel or wait for your scan.

Good luck!

Hazel

There is no reason why you should not get all the diagnostic technique and care that you need.

I think you must be thinking of the fact that it is illegal to be told the sex of your unborn baby.

As Haze says, that suspicion of an ectopic pregnancy is one that needs to be dealt with very urgently.

Wishing all the best....

My coworker sitting next to me is from Hyderabad. She has a medical background so perhaps she'll have some good recommendations for clinics.

***UPDATE***

My coworker is very confident with her family gynecologist in Hyderabad. She will try and get the contact information by tomorrow.

Thumbs up No worry

No worries. It is natural to freak out initially but I am sure soon you will not only find adequate care but also knowing you are pregnant. You should be able to get reliable medical care. I did so on my recent visit. I was happier with the care there than here.

Kinda out of date, but Dr. Kalpana's Maternity Hospital in Somajiguda has been used by a couple of acquaintances of mine.. she is supposed to be good, though I am a little wary of the hype surrounding her society shenanigans.

That said, I would recommend you ask around for a good doctor.. it is important that you have faith in the doctor more than anybody else.

Ultrasound is not illegal. Ultrasound for the purposes of determining the sex of the foetus is.

Alternatives are go to one of the big hospitals in Hyderabad close to you (Apollo, Care etc) and see their doctor. S/he may not be the best in the city, but they will be more than competent.
