Fish Oil tablets and EPO?

Hi All!

My reason for posting is i have the opportunity to go to India (interview process at the moment) for work and training staff!
My problem is that i suffer from eczema, and have suffered for quite a few years - i have to avoid wheat at all costs (allergic) and to keep eczema at bay i take 3 fish oil tablets and 1 EPO tablet at each meal. This means a LOT of tablets over the 2.5mth period that i potentially will be over there. I currently take Nature's Own brand and Natures Way brand of these. Is there supply of these brands or even the tablets over there at all? I need EPO tablets with a low vit E content (2IU)... Anyone have any advise at all??

Heat does aggrivate it - but as i will be in A/C the entire time, it's not a problem until i go exploring, which i can do at my own pace! I have no real concearns about other aspects of India and would love the opportunity as my dad's family all lived in India for many years before moving here!

Any advise at all

thanks
Aaron

I'm a bit concerned about your managing to stay in AC all the time.

Unless you are living in the building you work in that's probably not possible. You can get very hot and sweaty in a very few minutes! At the moment in Chennai I am mostly staying in until it gets a little cooler in the late afternoon and evening, but still I have some heat rash. (and the summer has hardly started )

You don't say where you are coming too: this would help so that people familiar with the climate of that place can advise.

Of course you might find something unexpected happening like your skin being more comfortable here! Or, if you are interested in such things, you might investigate something like Ayurvedic medicine.

Hi Nick!

Thanks for the response!!
I will be in Mumbai, we have "aparantly" and a/c'd bus for travelling to and from work - we are staying in 5 star serviced apartments aparantly and going to work in a new office building that will be fully a/c. We will be working Australian time over there, so starting @ 3am and things like that, trip home will be hot, but that's ok, i can handle that. I figure that it might make my skin better going over there and having "simple" food rather than the stuff we have here! I have the necessary creams, etc that will need over there (Elocon - a cort. steriod cream - i still have to check if i can bring those things INTO india (it's prescription)... will i have a problem?).
Only thing i foresee is skin/tablets/cream's as being a problem, but a small one at that, i know how to "manage" the problem, heat rash is OK - as much as i don't want it!

Thanks
Aaron

Well I'm not to sure about finding that particular brand of fish oil and vit E in Mumbai. But I can almost assure you that there will be fish oil and vit E readily available at any fine drug store, especially in a developed city like Mumbai.

About the prescrition, yes you can take it into the country without any problem. If you are at all concerned get a Dr's note from AUS to go along with it. But since it isn't a scheduled drug(addictive) you should have no problem.

About the eczema, alot of the patients I have worked with reported 2 things that helped their eczema.
1. Sunlight(spend a moderate amount of time in the sun and see what it does for you)
2. When you do break out, try using vaseline instead of the Elocon. See how you react to it. Some people prefer it over using Elocon.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks SP for that! I don't need vit E at all, in fact, i think i have too much (it makes my skin worse!!) so i just need evening primrose oil and fish oil (omega 3 and 6)...
I've tried vaseline and it was just ewww! I find normal moisturiser (sorbalene) works wonders and elocon is really only for when it gets really bad! Sun seems to help a bit too, too much (i.e. burning!! Easy in Aus!) is bad, but anything under makes the skin much nicer... I might be over there aug-nov so hopefully get some nice days... I am a fan of heat, i love it, but humidity is a bit much when it's 80+%!!

Thanks so far!
Aaron

Flax Seed Oil does the same as fish oil with a little extra on the side for good measure.

Mumbai is the centre of Network Marketing in India and those companies have a good range though the quality may be sus as far as I am concerned. Noni Juice is available there and will sort the problem nicely.
