Fake Medicines...

Hello,

I read articles about Fake Medicines being sold in India.
My concern is, how would I know that I am purchasing the non-fake medicines, and what do I need to look at? in order to minimize the risk.
Thanks

Just go to the best pharmacy/chemist in the town you are visiting and you should be safe most of the times. The fake medicines are usually priced lower than the authentic ones.

So-called "fake" medicines are often the same medicine as the pukka ones.

The only difference is that the "fake" medicine is not made under license, so they haven't paid some greedy drug company in the West for permission to make it in India.

As GoanCanuck says, just go to the best pharmacy/chemist in the town...

Quite. There are also real fakes, though, without any active content at all.

I don't know how sophisticated these fakes are: pills of the right colour? or packed in blister packs that imitate the design of the original and packed in printed boxes?

Its quite simple to tell the difference; if it works it is a fake and if it doesn't then it is a real fake.
