Hi Chiwai, the sonic mossie gadjet is a failure I think! I've used it here at home in the past and it did nothing to keep the mossies away. It would be no match for those big brutes in India.
Go with the Goodknight mossie zapper from Godrej!! Avalable all over India for Rp100!!!

Yeah I've tried a real sophisticated elec. repeller , did no good where mosquitoes were concerned but it did have some funny effect on rats and lizards, not that it kept them away they just pause before proceeding or returning to whence they came.

I'm trying to find 30% deet for my trip to India in November, everything seems to be 20% but I did find 95% deet at one place, think that is too strong? Will spray be enough to keep the mosquitos off you?

I prefer the swatters they sell in China for 10 RMB. They are very effective in India. The one that you need to dangle around your neck or the bracelet are totally ineffective.

my only gripe with 100% deet is that it's rather oily on the skin
I am one of those who swear by the goodknight electric plates

Good Knight tablets or Mortein liquids I have found to be the most effective. Both cost in the range of 50-75 Rs. I think for the gadget and 45 nights worth of tablets/liquid supply

what are these Good Knight products???? Like the electric plate... is it akin to those blue electric bug killers? And the tablets....you eat them and the mosquitos stay away? I imagine you smear the liquid on yourself...but these other items left me wanting to know more!

LOL no, the tablets fit into the plate, the tablets are roughly the size of a razor blade. The plate comes fitted in an electrical device roughly the shape and size of flattened doughnut, well much smaller really and I do think there are even smaller ones in different shapes now. I use the Mortein liquid, comes in a wee bottle (50 ml I think) which you attach to an electrical device which is no more than 3 inches in length and and 2 inches high. Hope this helps

beachchik, you can get Cutter's in stick form (lighter than spray and you don't spray everything around out) with enough DEET to be effective. Try a fishing/camping store. REI on the West Coast has it... great stuff. (They do not have this at the drugstore).

That "Jungle Juice" that is 100% DEET is so strong it irritates my skin, and if it spills, it can eat your backpack, so you might want to stay clear of that.
