Exactly. If you switch them off, the buzzers are right back in.

Some of those oils, if used neat, could inflame worse than a mossie bite!
yes, the "natural" stuff must be applied more often -- but they smell much better so why not!

also true -- DO NOT APPLY some essential oils directly onto the skin, must be diluted. I'm a patchouli oil junkie so I can dive right into the vat and it doesn't affect me, but essential oils can "burn" more sensitive skin....dilute first with sesame oil or olive oil, organic preferably....

using sesame oil or olive oil determined by your dosha, but that's another thread!

Nick, I could have brought you some of the heavy duty repellants we have here when I brought you the anti-itch cream last year!

i have heard that full-power deet is strong enough to melt a watchstrap!! does anyone know if this is actually true or is it just another urban myth? (rather like the 'coca-cola dissolves teeth myth...apparently not at all true!)

Well it certainly did my CD collection no good at all and that was only 50%!
I had to chuck them away, after unwittingly touching them after applying deet!

Nick try and find Mosfree from Godreg in Madras, MUCH better than the old chip fat consistency of Odomos!

Someone needs to invent a similar machine to the one used against Midges in Scotland. they emit carbon dioxide (which is what attracts the midges) they are then sucked into a disposable bag!

Only thing is I seem to remember that smelly feet was what attracted mossies!

In India I turn the fan on over the bed, turn the light on in the bathroom and leave the door open a crack - they will migrate towards the greatest source of heat. The fan will dissipate your body heat and any detectable emissions. As a final touch, a little squirt of mosquito repellent on the upper corners of the bed sheets and you should have a biteless snooze.

Oh, OK, I didn't know.

One reason I'm not up-to-date on these is that I have only one socket per room in this place.

But I do have a heap of them on the shelf. They didn't impress me a couple of years back. I'll try again in the new house.

There are herbal formulations that, at least, smell better to this human...

CH... I prefer Odomos lotion --- a few drops goes a long way and spreads very easily, and I don't mind the smell. Will watch out for the Godrej stuff.

Unfortunately I cannot sleep under a fan, the draft drives me crazy. Dissipating detectable emissions sounds an advantage though. Maybe Mrs N isn't telling me the full story of why she does like to have the fan on!

Reading this thread, have to give a mention for ALfresco - great, all-natural anti-insect formula. It has always worked for me, but one wonders whether it's more blind faith than actual utility (aren't so manynatural remedies like that).
