Early Arrivals and Departures Concerns
I'm planning on visiting my girlfriend around mid November to mid December(she is studying in Pondicherry currently). The cheapest flight i can find arrives in Chennai(MAA) at 12:05am, and in December my flight out of Delhi(DEL) would be departing at 12:55am. Since i've heard India can be dangerous at night, i was wondering if there would be any particular dangers with these times at these airports.
I'm fairly certain she'd be with at least one other friend when she picks me up and when she takes me to leave. not sure how much of an effect it will have but we are both white Americans, so i'd assume we'll stick out a bit. |

It should not be an issue. Most international flights depart and some arrive after midnight only. Chennai and Delhi are safe should not worry too much.

India is no more dangerous at night than any other country.
Indian airports most certainly aren't dangerous, because of security issues, they are heavily guarded and about the safest place on the planet! ![]() As for your flights being night time, the airport won't be deserted, if that's what you're worried about. It's often the busiest time of day!

International airports in India at that hour are like a zoo
Throngs of people milling around waiting for arrivals or whole villages showing up to see off someone departing .

Please use the search function, your question has been beaten to death and then some.....both for Chennai and Delhi airports.
Short version: if your friend picks you up at night and she's accompanied by someone else, no problem. For a guy I wouldn't see any issues whatever the time of day or night. India is generally not dangerous, even at night provided you're not a single female.
