doxy on return

does one really have to continue with the doxy for a month on return?? it seems rather ridiculous to take antibiotics for no apparent reason. Any input gratefully received. My kids are fed up with taking it after a week back at home.

If you start you have to finish! (the question then is whether you should start at all!)

When using a antibiotic as a prophylactic, the only way to know if you have met & harbor the agent (bacteria, liver-devouring protozos , whatever.. ) is to stop the cure prematurely ...and risk dealing with a now drugresistant strain. By then, as they say, you are trying to navigate a highly polluted stream without any means of propelling your small vessel.

Just a small point, the info I've seen reccommends that you don't use said antibiotic for any more than three months. something to take into account on a long trip!!!
