I thought calamine lotion was a pink chalky liquid with no oiliness? Perhaps we have different versions in the UK and NZ.
Most certainly so, although there are probably different brands & formulations everywhere..

good topic, I should say!

Here is the tough, but easy way...

Have a bowl of water ready. Wake up in at mid-night. As they crawl around or rest in the corners of bed/pillow/mattress/etc. catch them and put them in that water. Repeat it for 2-3 weeks and you should be good. Cross check once a month to see, if few more crop up. Follow this up by putting the beddings as well as cloths in hot sun (easy in tropical climates).

The other way is to use scented sticks and burn them off!

Any other method of killing emanates foul smell!

Wow.. I hope we`re going to survive it! Had a similiar discussion on the thorntree lately and probably any hotel in India would also treat contaminated rooms with DDT and whatever is not allowed to use in other countries.. for a reason. In New York City bedbugs are however immune to it already. Lets see who wins the war

According to my experience...you can use the combination of canola oil or rapeseed oil and pyrethrins...it will directly effect the bed bugs nervous system...to know more about testing on bed bugs....read.. http://www.whatdobedbugslooklike.net...-pictures.html

Hey, that`s an interesting website. I like "How To Prevent Bed Bugs In Your New Apartment" on page http://www.whatdobedbugslooklike.net...ed-bugs/page/2 - that`s Carrie in Sex and The City :-). NYC definetely has a bedbug-problem.

But my hotel in Mudumalai puts the mattresses out in the sun whenever there are no guests. Doesn`t help. Guess they are inside the room(modern and clean) or the mattresses are just too thick. When I ask the staff to spray around the bed and wipe the room with their "lemon-water"(smells like that), it seems to work for about 2 days. But I doubt the treatment is healthy.

Will a silk-liner help if you sleep in it or will these buggers just hit your face, I wonder? Hm. Might try. What about your oil? You use it before or after the visitors come..?

P.S. My favourite comment by scottyheather: "I personally think napalm is the answer to both the bedbugs and cockroaches"
