Do I need to take a mosquito net?
Hey,
I'm off next Monday to Mumbai, then Goa for 7 nights then kerala for 7 nights then back to Mumbai for a night to fly home to london. I'm taking anti-malarials- doxycycline and have got mosquito repellant with deet in it. I read this article about 'what not to take to india' http://www.indiamike.com/india-artic...ling-to-india/ and a mosquito net was one of things the guy said wasn't needed. Am wondering what the consensus of opinion would be for my trip, do i take a take a net or not?
Thanks, Katharine

Never carried one ,I rely on Deet and dressing correctly , but if offered by your hotel they can increase the romantic element

You don't need one as far as you aren't gonna sleep on beaches or staying on very cheap low budget Hotels..

Thanksz for the replies. i will probably be staying in budget hotels, not on the beach though! In Goa, will be staying in arambol at the himalayan iyengar yoga institue where i have booked a 'hut' so not sure if that would warrant a mosquito net. Sorry I should have included this info in original post.
It's ok,don't regret anything that happened without intention, Yes They Provide mosquito net or may be they charge extra for that, You even can make them contact and ask about your query, this is the best option,in Palolem's huts they provide nets,

I would suggest you to carry one...not for mosquito but it will protect you from other insects too.
Many hotels provide it normally and sometimes on demand.

Plenty of mossies get into our air-conditioned house! It is true, though: an AC room in a posh hotel, in which the windows may even be locked shut ought to be a safe haven from mossies, and is probably the best bet.
Other than these sealed boxes, nowhere is totally safe. They come in and out with people, or there may even be an open vent in the bathroom.
Plug ins and fans are perfect against mosquito's in between the power cuts
I always carry a mozzie net, don't always need it but if I do, I've got it in my bag. A net really doesn't take much space in your luggage and the weight is almost zero.
Ofcourse it is very cool to travel without one they say ...
