Question Do I need the shots!

Hello all.
quick couple of Qs.

My wife and I travel to India in December.

We go to Delhi, Dehradun, Agra, and Patna.

My wife is getting the Hep A/B shots along with typhoid vaccination.

I however, am a relocated desi, as it were. I haven't been back to India since 2002 though.
Do I need these shots/ vaccinations as well? Will my immune system still hold up? ( I did live in Delhi for a good 10 years of my life)

Any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated

My brother in law, never left India hence full immunity, had a severe Hep A attack. Fortunately, he was an athlete and recovered over the next year..

If you've been out of the country for almost 7 years, your immune system /herd-virus immunity, may have become dulled.

I would recommend that you consult your GP and get available shots.

And, if your wife has not yet had tetanus shots, she may want to investigate that too (valid for 10+ years).

Cheers

Definitely (according to my vaccination book - which is somewhere around the house and has to be found before I fly out tomorrow...), that it's a 10+ year coverage.

I still remember getting all the initial shots and feeling like a pin-cushion - like you, I detest injections.

Cheers

If you've been in Canada for 7 years, the only thing you're immune to is Tim Horton's coffee.

The best comment yet. Seriously, people have a psychological belief in "immunity" that must come from the practical inability to immunize for most Indians. Its an interesting survival response to risk..
