I needed a Dentist in India in 2003. I was on the train from Bombay to Goa and I asked a fellow passenger from Margao(GOA) if he knew of a good dentist there . He recommended a guy who he said was good!I don't remember his name. I went to see him to replace some fillings I had lost. I told him that these fillings that came out were teeth that I had got filled in Cairo and in Honduras and that after a few months the fillings came out. I said I hope your's won't do the same. He said no , these will last a lifetime! After waiting for 3 and a half hours in the waiting room he finally got to me.
I remember it cost me 250 rps. per tooth. Needless to say when I got back to my country, the fillings came out about 6 months later!

my dentist in America is Indian and I told him this story and he said the materials there are not as good or maybe past there expiration date!

So far I am very happy with the dental treatment that I have had in Chennai.

I do think it is hard finding a good dentist. How does one judge a member of a profession that one knows nothing about? Certainly I wouldn;t look for the cheapest, but the most expensive carries no guarantee either!

I got my recommendation from my doctor, who, in turn, was recommended by a close friend.

I've passed his name on to a number of visitors to Chennai, and, as far as I know, everybody has been happy.
