Thumbs up Dental Work in India

I just wanted to relay a recent dental experience I had in India. I broke a tooth on the train as I was going to Patna. So I decide I needed to go to a dentist. My hotel recommended Dr. Singh. I went to his office and he could immediately see me. That would never happen in the USA!

After he examined me, he found that my upper molar broke off – leaving its filing precariously sitting ready to come off also. He suggested I get a full gold crown as I already have two gold crowns on lower molars. I was a bit reluctant at first but it did make sense. And then he told me it would only cost 1,700 rupees! That sealed the deal.

He then ground down my tooth and made the impression to send it off to a local lab. It took them only one day to make the crown. So I went back the following day to Dr. Singh for the fitting and adjustments. I cannot believe how efficient and cheap this procedure is compared to a very familiar procedure in the USA. I paid about $500 after insurance for my last crown and it took over a week to get it back from the lab! By the way, I have had no problems.

My conclusion…If you needed much dental work, you could easily pay for your trip to India.

Should I wait?

I am leaving in April and was planning on getting some simple dental work done before I go. I have no insurance and its is awful expensive here. I can wait till I get to Delhi but have all the usual fears: finding a quality dentist, not getting ripped off in a far away place, using my precious time in India for dental work. Any ideas? experiences?

I need three crowns and I have discussed this with Goandentist who is a member. He has two locations in Goa.
There are also dentists in Cochi who cater to tourists and yes the prices are very good compared to North America. My dental insurance covers half the cost for crowns here at home and my cost is still over $1200.00 canadian. I'm waiting until next month when I'll be in India!

Unbelieveable? OK: how about 23 crowns for Rs7,000?

I asked my Chennai dentist if he used mercury when I first went there: he looked quite offended and said, "not for the last ten years!"

Nick, thats only $184.00can. Good deal. Do the dentists do well in India, economically speaking? They do very well here.

No first hand experience with their dentistry but three weeks care recently for two ruptured cervical discs! The clinic owner Dr. Kumar was a neurosurgeon in the US for 30 years. They do the latest dental procedures including implants and people fly in from all over the world.

Get it done in India!!! When you get to Delhi, telephone the US embassy and ask for their list of recommended dentists - its as simple as that.

I have had quite a bit of work done in Delhi - crowns, root canal etc - I used Dr Pal in Sundernagar - brilliant service and top quality work.

I have found that Indian dentists generally can fit you in quite quickly, but obviously all work takes some time, especially if you are getting bridges, crowns etc made up at the lab. However, you can use the time in between appointments for sight seeing and exploring Delhi - its a great place and lots to see there.

It look like more and more of us are satisfied customers of Indian dentists!

My Chennai dentist has his own in-house lab, which makes crown and bridge work quicker --- but it still takes time and needs a few days to see that everything is OK

23? 23? 23?

What exactly do you eat? or more correctly, what were you eating before you had them capped/cleaned/crowned?

Or is it the morsing?

or you drink acid? (the real chemical one not the one which trips you)

23!!!!

Please do make a visit to Bangalore, I've got to show you to my nephew and niece as an example of what happens when they eat too many

sweets
candies
chocolates

<goes to mirror to check whether teeth are still there and taps them to check whether they sound OK>
