Baldy,

Thanks for that. I've obviously been over-using.

I'll go easy next time.

If you're using a spray, can you spray it on your hand and then rub it on the feet, face, hands, etc? You'd use much less that way.

Oh, and there are mossies that bite in the daytime; they carry dengue -- and you don't want to get that!

There is also another Oz remedy that combines Citronella Oil, Dettoll and Sorbolene Cream, it is cheap and effective on Queensland mossies and has an antiseptic quality too. It doesnt smell great.

The question is, what does deet do to humans? 100% deet is a very good paint stripper.
It also melts through plastic and synthetic fabrics, so be careful with it in your pack!

mosquito protection

Vitamin B supplements, especially those high in B1 (Thiamine) and B6 (Pyridoxine) are also supposed to be effective in repelling mossies. This is only anecdotal information but apparently creates a smell on the skin, if taken daily for a while, that they dont like.

My homeopath recommended this. I took Vit B daily. I didn't have as much troubel with mosies as I did last year, but couldn't possibly say if this was down to using a different repellant, the Vit B, or even the garlic tablets she also recommended!

Yep, you either love it or hate it. They love it

just thought if you spread it over you, they'll stick to it before they can bite you
