deet alternatives, mosquito nets?
Having just read that there's a dengue outbreak in Delhi and that deet sprays don't keep you from getting bitten, I wonder if anyone knows of an alternative mosquito repellent that actually works. For example: in New Zealand I was advised to mix baby oil and Dettol to protect against sandflies (deet didn't deter them). It worked pretty well in the rain forest. Has anyone tried something like this?
As for mosquito nets, can anyone recommend the ideal one for a traveler constantly on the move? Like--what's lightweight and usable in most hotels? What do you do about mosquitos if you sleep on the train? Last edited by Zeppy : Oct 6th, 2006 at 03:31. Reason: added mosquito net question |

DEET is probably the best, but each person's body smells are different, and something might work for you that doesn't for me...
