Gosh - I am very surprised that no one here seems to have heard of "Liquid Skin"!! It comes in a small bottle, with an applicator, and you paint it on a crack or cut. It quickly dries to leave a thick plastic layer of 'skin' that keeps out all infections, similar to the superglue treatment. Don't confuse with 'spray-on plasters' - this is in a different league altogether. You can get it from various manufacturers - I have just bought a new bottle called "Urgodermyl" - see it on the company website by visiting http://www.urgodermyl.com/ then clicking Consumer Products > Dermatology. Its very expensive - about 15 Euros for a tiny bottle, but it will save your 'life' a number of times, and you will be very grateful to have that tiny bottle in your daypack. Don't leave home without it!!

Tim...I will try and find this great sounding product too... Urgodermyl I still like the name CRACK though. I like the direct naming of a product, no confusion about what its for. |

Several suffered from cracked heels on a trip to Ladakh this summer. Vaseline, imported or purchased at the chemist, did the trick when applied regularly. Those with feet hardened by lots of hiking at home did not seem as troubled. I also wore socks in my sandals: kind of geeky, but more padding, and you never know what you are going to step into, especially in Delhi.

Hi,
Just wanted to say something. If you use a glue, you should use a resin, that's what they use in hospitals. You can get resin from... haha... your local beautician (nailtechs use resin when they glue the nails). Just my two cents! C. |

The best product is indeed "KRACK, antiseptic cream with special SR formula for healing & soothing of cracked heels". Its ayurvedic and can be found in most pharmacies. The price is Rs. 29 for a 25 gram tube.
