yes, Aishah I insinuated too that one can buy some medicanes from Indian stores too. But there is a problem with counterfeit drugs to watch out for.

To return to Mach's point! Doxy can interfere with contraceptive pills since it belongs to a certain class of antibiotics..

I don't know, I reckon it's a valid concern & probably more pressing to many women than a bout of diarrhoea. Aishah, IJ referred to Indojingai yes (hi Indo! ). The necessity to many of having your favorite brand has already been mentioned, so I'd couple that with an awareness of the risk of generic brands.

Get a reasonable supply back from home.

Once in India, go to a big tag hospital (real good ones have consulting charges around 4-5 euros).. Consult with the resident gynec on the options you have.. get the medical history as well as any information on past pills used when visiting the doc. And try out their prescriptions. Buy the medicines from the hospital pharmacy itself for the first time, and on repeat needs pick up from any (reliable looking) pharmacy around.

For Indojingai
Well thanks for Worrying for me in case of diarrhea,
but it is not the first time I come, I am careful with water(I drink mineral water,or filtered water). And I am used to very spicy food, I select the places where I eat, and my body imediately adjusted itself to indian food.
I've never been ill because of FOOD till the point I would have had to take immodium or rehydration salts. The only problem was a fruit juice suppose there was plain water, but as I know what I have to prepare in my "medicines bag", I took the immodium.
I am planning to stay in India for something like two years At least(with a PIO) and I may settle with my boyfriend who is indian.
So this topic isn't less worth than immodium for me...

Anyway Thanks to all for your help!

1. Nadreg... Should you really have used the word Period there?

2. Travellers go haywire: best stay at home!

3. Ode... so you're going to be a long-termer, probably, so you should be getting yourself a doctor who will recommend specialists to you --- or go to the local posh [relatively expensive] private hospital.
