Question Chloroquine

Hello, I read this on an american health website http://www.cdc.gov/travel/regionalma...tm#malariarisk

can anyone tell me if it's true, can't it be taken in Inida?

Note: Chloroquine is NOT an effective antimalarial drug in South Asia and should not be taken to prevent malaria in this region.

all feedback will be much welcomed because I need to buy my malaria tabs soon...

You need to take chloroquine in conjuntion with proguanil. Your pharmacist or doctor will advise. You could also use malarone or doxycycline.

South Asia is a big place!

I take chloroquine only because I was advised by a local doctor who knows the part of the particular city that I live in and what forms of malaria exist here.

I'm not saying doctors never make mistakes! The guy might be wrong.

I know I don't have malaria, but as I often point out to others, that says nothing about the effectiveness of what I do or don't take.
