Im hoping to go to India this year and have a few questions.\I have a 1 year old and a five year old...is it safe to take children or are they better off staying with their grandparents for our initial visit...in order to suss it all out first? Is India still safe in the wake of world events of late?

Safe
Yes, India is as safe as any other major country on this earth

Children

We have some guests who bring their children and we also have guests who inform us that they have left the childen in the care of relatives. Both seem quite happy with their decisions! So this is something you have to choose.

Children

I took my two children to India about 12 months ago. They were aged 4 years and 7 years respectively at the time. My wife and I had been to India on previous occasions and new what were in for so to speak.
We planned an itinerary that was child friendly. We avoided big cities as best as possible and spent plenty of time on the beaches and moving at a pace that wasn't too hectic.
If I can help you with any further information please send an email.

Cheers Shark

Our kids (2 and 4) have made many trips and love it. We take them to the big cities, and the beaches. The only trouble we have is finding food for them. Once we got them hooked on rice and curd we were set. We do not give them any meat or fresh milk while we are there though. You can buy pasturized milk quite readily. Best of luck.

Smile children

We'll be in India for 3 mo. starting Sept. with our boys 8 and 11 years old. We are looking forward to crossing paths with other family travellers so if there's anyone out there reading this and similarly interested drop a line and we can exchange itinerarys. Also looking for recommendations on likely destinations where we may find other families backpacking.
