Perhaps you can wait and get it when you reach India. It's sure to be MUCH less expensive there.

Have you looked into your local health dept.? They usually have a travel dept. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

I second what jjacquemain said --
I am in Chicago area and the next county over from mine offers "travel" shots for $12 apiece thru the health department. |

my understanding of hepatitis vaccinations is that they need to be started sometime before you visit the country in question. my doctor recommended three shots over a six month period, starting five months before i left. NB: this is not a medical site, speak to your doctor, and check the timeline thing. |

The first two doses provide immunity for one year and the third dose extends the immunity to 10+ years. |

actually it was the second shot. apologies for any confusion. i got in touch with local health dept but they couldn't fit me in in time so i reluctantly got stung. ouch that hurt, but prob not as much as hepatitis might. given that i leave tomorrow i didn't have much time to research other possibilities but thanks for the advice all the same. i'm sure its possible to get it a lot cheaper, just give yourself plenty of time.

It's a Hep A and Hep B vaccine.
I would prefer the chocolate bar myself. ![]() |
