Candida (or similar) Treatments in India

Yeah, this is a long shot, but it just might work ...

I think I have Candida overgrowth in my stomach or intestines or wherever it overgrows, and have a lot of the symptoms. I came to India to go to an Ayurvedic or Naturopathic centre to see if they could help.

Has anyone found a centre with treatments for Candida or similar complaints over here? I need help fast as my symptoms, combined with the heat here right now (in Pune), are making things very unpleasant.

I've emailed a few centres to see if they can help, but it would be great to hear if anyone has any personal experiences or has heard anything along these lines (other than avoid sugar, fruit, cheese, etc,).

Thanks.

I live in Pune and I have had good experiences and results with Dr Trivedi in the Koregaon Park quarter, off South Main Road. I don't know if he does special treatments for Candida (since that wasn't my complaint the times I went to see him) but I would think so. He's a bit expensive though, I paid 6-700 Rs each week I went to see him including the meds, but his clinic is clean and cool and not crowded. What I like is that he makes all his pills and tonics and powders and what not himself. I was twice treated by him and was both times happy with the results. His number is 2613 0183.

All the best to you!

While it is difficult to know how you know that you have candida and where you have it and even if you are male or female....

Particularly if you have been taking antibiotics such as doxycycline for malaria, this is a common occurrence. Particularly for women (in the region of the body closest to Kerala). There are thrush treatments available from the chemist/pharmacy/drug store that should fix you up fairly quickly. If you are intent on going down the alternative route (which is understandable) eat plenty of (QUALITY) yogurt/curd etc. If you are a woman, you can apply liberally to the effected area and stand on your head (the last bit being optional)

Please note that I am a doctor of laws and not medicine and anything that I say could just end up costing you alot of money.

But you're right. Inserting yogurt/curd into the vagina helps with Candida and other fungi infections down there since it helps restore the natural bacterial growth which helps to fight the candida. But it must be yogurt which isn't sterilised (=dead). So Nestle won't do in this case.

Thanks for all the replies, especially Noodle's tip about the doctor in Pune. I might just check him out, so thanks a lot.

I'm a man, btw, and I've had a few of the symptoms of Candida overgrowth for a few years now, getting worse lately ... the only skin aspect is an occasional rash on my chest and arms mainly, which flares up when I eat foods that are warned against for candida. So, I think that's what I have. It could be some other stomach complaint, like parasites, but it definitely appears to be originating from the stomach and what I put in it.

It seems a difficult thing to diagnose and takes a long time to treat ... so I was just hoping that someone had been through the same and found somewhere out here that can help.

Thanks very much for all the replies.

Symptoms:

Poor concentration, irritability, pressure and tingles in face and forehead and pressure behind the eyes, occasional rash on chest and arms, stomach usually slightly bloated or hurting, energy low, low threshold to stress ... it's a barrel of laughs, especially here in the Indian heat and bustle.

And the naturopathic centre I had my eye on tells me no vacancies until end of May ... nothing's going my way here.

If I were you, I would get some pathology work done. This is always useful and doesn't conflict with a desire to treat the problem in an alternative manner. You will find the tests that come back normal a relief and the tests that come back abnormal (if any) also a relief. You can try to treat these things for years - get as much basic information as you can to inform your next steps.

Trivedi also recommended that I do some regular blood work. Go see him, he might be able to help you. Do you know the Koregaon Park area?

Your symptoms do sound like Candida. He'll probably do a cleaning with you.

You would think so.

But lets not have a flame war about alternative medicine practitioners.

Have to confess that I was about to make a post thaty might have started one --- and thought better of it

I got it after being dosed up with antibiotics following an operation. Bought a cream and it cleared up in a few days.
