Digene and Gelusil are magnesia-based...mostly fast action relievers...no idea about bacteria killing.

you dont get pepto-bismol or any of its equivalents in india.

you can take any of the over the counter medicine suggested by the others on IM, and eat curd/yoghurt (branded if possible, which you can get at any grocery/dairy shop) maybe with boiled rice, and take lots of Electrolytes/ORS (Electral/Electrobion etc). curd takes care of your bowel flora. the antacids don't kill the bacteria. or carry pepto-bismol tabs from home.

for simple diarrhoea/upset stomach you dont need something that kills bacteria , for that antacids, pudinhara and curd are good enough.

but if you get infectious diarrhoea , in india you'll be given metronidazole or norfloxacin with antibiotics/lactobacillus.
