Can you buy Malerone in India or Thailand? And how much does it cost? It is very expensive here in Denmark 1200kr. for one month (200 $)

hey you guys!

I just finished reading come of the threads on malaria prophylaxis and it is very controversial. But from what I gather, Malarone is a good option -- just an expensive one!

Does anyone out there (particularly the IMers in India) know if we can get Malarone in India? That way we can just buy 2 tabs here, and potentially get the rest there (presuming it's cheaper). Can someone out there help us????

Thanks in advance!

You can buy Paludrine in India, but it is hard to find. I found it in Delhi in a touristy area in the Parharganj bazaar. Ask a lot of shops - it's a black market item, but someone will have it. It's the same main ingredient (proguanil) that's in Malarone.

I have a more extensive post under another Malaria thread.

Definitively (for the moment) Malarone isn't available commercially in India. Maybe a traveller with excess would be an option..

People are always asking is this or that available. Does anyone know what exactly is available in India. For instance where can one find what the Indian medical profession currently recommend for treatment and prevention?
