One of my frnds was admiited to apollo bangalore & he told they are not good. I was undergoing a minor treatment in apollo delhi [ not admitted ] & i found it okay. Again it depends on person to person. Since its a critical surgery please gather more info first.
Best of luck

Delhi Hospitals
Escorts Heart Institute in Delhi is highly reputed for cardiac surgery in India. The facilities are world class. The team of surgeons is headed by Dr Naresh Trehan who has a formidable reputation in the field of heart surgery.
Apollo is more of a general hospital, but again, of a very high standard. Maybe you should compare the two and then decide. |

"High standard" is a relative term. As indicated in my post on the other thread, I would find out who the doctor/surgeon is and begin to do some reasearch into whether he/she is of "high standard" or not.

Agree with crvlr. Fix a good surgeon first, then decide the hospital. This may involve some email, telephone and such correspondence.
Quite a few top guys do not operate at Apollo. That said, there are many Apollos in India. If you still want to go with them, and need specific information, you can decide on the city and then ask here. |

Going by reputation, rest assured, Apollo is one of the top chain of hospitals in India. I had a brief experience with them and it seemed a well-organised and clean hospital (by Indian standards, at least).
However, I got so pissed off with their system of trying to milk money out of patients that I walked out without finishing the tests I was supposed to do. They seem to have a policy of sending everyone for a million useless check-ups and tests, for the smallest problem, after just a short routine check-up. Elaborate and expensive blood tests seem to be a must, even if you go to them for a simple neck pain. I guess that's how they make their money. Perhaps they believe that patients have no clue about medicine, so it's alright to send them to do absurd tests just to make them shell out some money. But this doesn't mean that they don't have top doctors, so, as the other posters said, you should check out the doctors first. |

Escorts hospital seems to be the best. Apollo hospital is world class indeed. Another good place is Gangaram Hospital.

Reposting from another thread for your reference
======================= Both Apollo and Escorts have a good reputation, the latter being a super-speciality center for cardiac related issues. Incidentally, I happen to work with the Fortis-Escorts chain on the managment side, so if you need any help on that front, feel free to contact me. Good luck, Rohan __________________

I used the Apollo in Hyderabad for some tests and rate it highly. It was actually quite reasonable. It was my sis in law's (the doc) recommendation..

Apollo hospital have branches all over Please tell us which city! Without that information no-one can really advise or give possible alternatives. If you are flexible on destination also please tell that. Above all, although we have a couple of docs among the membership, there is nothing to beat professional advice and recommendation, as opposed to internet forum stuff. I see you've checked out the other thread: some good pointers there. I had a general health checkup at Apollo. It was good and good value for money --- the head of that department also happens to be my usual general doctor, so I was assured of good follow-up service! My wife attended a specialist, for a gastro-intestinal problem, in a small private hospital near Adyar (Chennai). The doctor seemed very competent, but prescribed drugs that made her seriously ill (neurological side effects) for a day. We went to the gastro specialist at Apollo. Even with an endoscopy, the bill was affordable, and the treatment effective but I think the consultation fee was nearly Rs400. Whatever the room charge is, add the cost of being checked out by a couple of doctors a day and all the sundries, and I think the many, many small items would add up to a considerable amount .It made me decide that we should lower our sights in case we needed a hospital stay! --- but we are living closer to Indian economics rather than foreign. No: we are living Indian economics! ![]() Apollo is marketing itself to foreign medical tourists. But I would guess plenty of other private hospitals would give you a nice air-conditioned room too. Without this (at least here in Chennai) you would not survive the climate and the mosquitoes.
