Buying contact lense in India?
Is it possible to buy contact lense in India, considering I know my strength/curve etc..? I usually buy'em over the internet, but I would like to use daily lense in India (more hygienic obviously) and I dont want to have to bring a bunch of boxes with me, so if possible I would buy them there??
Anyone can help me on this topic? |

You won't have any problem buying contacts, as long as you are passing through a major city (delhi, mumbai, bangalore etc). In fact, if I were you, I'd plan to stock up!
My husband bought six pairs (2 boxes of 6) of contacts in Mumbai for R1690 (about CAN$44).

My first trip to India I used daily disposables, which I found to be a pain. The problem was trying to find a sterile place to change them. My last trip I had monthly contacts that I don’t need to touch for a month. I have no problem sleeping in them and they felt as good as the daily ones.
My contacts were the best thing I took to India as with 33 overnight train trips it made life much easier. (Also great to be able to see when you wake up on a train and not fumbling for your glasses) ![]() |

I used to wear Focus Night&Day (that you can keep for a month without worrying about'em) until I got to the point where I just couldnt wear them anymore..my eyes would get tired after a while, and it started really itching... so I try to avoid'em now... but they did work wonders for me for maybe a year and a half...its a shame I cant tolerate them anymore as its really a plus! (i.e. not having to change them or even thing about them for a month!)

If you are in Delhi, take a Metro train from Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) station and get off at Delhi Main(Old Delhi). This is Chandni Chowk area. Walk up to Fatehpuri Masjid (mosque) and on the left is a small lane which is the wholesale(bulk) market for contact lenses and eyecare products. Here you can ask for prices which are nearly half the Maximum Retail Price marked on the packs. Very good bargains indeed. You can also get good prices on sunglasses imported from China. All major brands of lenses ara available, including Baucsh and Laumb.

I recommend Lawrence & Mayo, a national chain with branches in every city. Very professional and reliable. My Bausch & Lomb special-pain in the butt prescription monthly-wears costs about $60 for a six-month supply...about 1/3 the US cost.
