Doxy is a lot cheaper to buy in Asia than in Australia.
Re: original question, Bangkok or India. Yes, you can buy Doxy at Bangkok international airport, but as is always the case worldwide, airport shops will charge much more than the normal rate in that region. For a three hour stopover, you would be pushing it to get downtown. So probably better to buy in India. If you are transiting through Bangkok though, why not break your journey and stay there for a couple of weeks or more? For most things (accomodation, food, etc.) Thailand is generally significantly cheaper than India. As an Australian tourist, you automatically get a free 30 day visa when you check in through customs, no advance application necessary. Most airlines let you break journeys at stopover airport. Two countries for the price of one! |

Check out Qinghao, it is extremely effective and now used as the primary treatment, Doxy has some nasty side effects.

You are pushing wormwood as if it was some other sort of drug, so I'm curious: WHO is recommending this for primary treatment? Where are the studies published? Have YOu used this? What side effects does it have? What is it that makes you so certain that it works above all other anti-malarials? |

"WHO is recommending this for primary treatment? "
Exactly that WHO (World Health Organisation) I have no interest in Qinghao other than its benefits as opposed to the risks of the present drugs. Over the last few years I have been hearing a number of medical reviews about it and spent some time Googling for info and I have a great stack of stuff that says to me forget the rest this is the best. My wife also works in a Hospital and in her area there are many specialists who have warned us about the present Malaria treatments which inspired me to look for options. I would give you links but I don't know how to do the quick link thing that you all do so just go to google and type Qinghao Wormwood Malaria and see what comes up. One of the best docs that I found was the actual systematic approach that they use in India with the product. I have not used it and in the 9 trips that I have done to India I have never had any shots for anything in prevention, this trip as it is a long termer is different. What makes me so sure that it works, well its been in use for the past 2,000 years, a good trial period I would say. Side effects, I can't remember off hand but I believe you don't have the malaria parasite anymore. Just trying to make your journey through life a little easier, so wonderwomanusa be a little lighter. |

.. so for now I`ll stay optimistic but not expecting any guarantees. In the end there are no totally safe antibiotics or antiprotozoals : if it can kill them we have to be aware that they can harm us. |

There are risks with anything, minimise is the best option. I am not completely certain here but does not one of the current malaria drugs provide the opportunity for blindness as one of its side effects. This may be one of the reasons that I looked for an alternative. Based on the side effects a bit of damage to the brain-stem nucle in an animal rather than humans seems ok, smoking tobacco effects every cell in the body, thats passive as well as active hmmm.
Anyway with all of the halugens in my 50 years, the car, motor bike, horse riding ney horse falling accidents, tree falling and the various spinal dents that I put up with, my brain stem is rock soggy and flowering beauty like a lotus out of a sewar. Just putting this one forward for conversation. A few years back I got Bhamma Forest fever, a bit like Dengi [sp], I had a blood test when I got it as I felt like crap but did not return for the results for a couple of months. Anyway the point of this dribble is that I began taking quality nutritional supplements (brand with held) and found that the effects of the fever were less than that of a cold really quickly I did not know that I had a virus, it was all a timing coincidence. So anyway I remembered to go back to get the blood results and both my Doc and me were most supprised that I was not real sick. So the point of this is at any time of getting a virus get into high quality supplements to get the immune systm up, most of the problems people have is from the lack of fight. I know some will accept this and others may go the tuther direction but worthy of making a notation next me one plans to get a fever. |

This is the trouble with all of this stuff, test it here, test it there but noooo can't do that bit so lets put up a red flag. Come on bite the bullet and lop off a few heads in the name of science, after all malaria kills thousands of people so whats a couple of guinea pigs in with it. ![]() |
