I live very close to Apollo and I might have something a little different to say.
I go to them very often. They have great facilities and for most of the standard problems they are great. However, their specialists aren't that good. Say a cardiac problem or Orthopaedic, their specialists were quiet bad. I saw almost every Orthopaedician there and none of them had a clue to treat my ankle. They were all well qualified and all that but didn't have a certain touch about them. On the other hand, if you want to take tests, MRI, general health check up or most of the standard general illnesses which doesn't require a certain expert's eyes they are really good. There are a few others who share my opinion. Not to say they are bad or anything, but if you want the doctor to make an assessment which is sort of "not taught in the text books", you are better off not going to Apollo. Cardio - Escorts, Ortho - Safdarjung and AIMS etc or even a reputed private practice might do. This is very much a minority opinion, though. |

Check out this link. We've decided unless absolutely life-threatening emergency, we'd take a plane to Bangkok.

i don't trust hospitals in india. be extremely cautious. even local advice can lead you wrong because they have different expectations, and different points of comparison.
apollo has a hospital here in mysore too. it is okay. nothing fantastic. they don't have attention to detail as we expect in the west. they aren't as hygenic and attentive. comparing indian to western medical prices makes india seem like a bargain, yet it is not the same level service offered. if you want western quality at lower prices consider singapore. if you'd like something between singapore and india, go for thailand. personally, as one who lives in india and has spent much time here over the last eleven years, if i had an elective (non-emergency) surgery to plan, i'd go to singapore. too many botched jobs, mistakes, and unexpected side-effects coming out of the indian medical system for my tastes.

I never knew about Singapore, I checked out Thailand and it was cheaper than India, they even have a 5 star hospital. I picked India because of the Himilayas.

Check our Sri Ramachandra Hospital in Madras India....Many of the doctors there are foreign trained US and UK..Apollo is good too...but depends which Apollo you go to...The Chief Ct surgeon as well as others are UK US trained.
www.srmc.edu is also Harvard Affiliated, Harvard wouldnt put their name on it if it wasnt good...Its expensive by indian standards but its quite good in the south. |

Vintage Hospital<<
I highly recommend these guys. One of my buddies in Calangute was operated at vintage for a nasty tumor back in March. They did a terrific job and he recovered well.

Escorts Heart institute in New Delhi has a formidable reputation in the field of cardiac surgery. Are you going to have Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, or some other procedure?
