anybody know if amoeba (dysentery causing) is bacteria, protozoa, or fungus?

i'm trying to figure out if Grapefruit seed extract protects from ameobic dysentery.

i just posted a thread re: GSE as water purification. it's claimed to prevent bacterial, protozoan, fungal, and viral infections.

i'm wondering if amoeba fall in these classifications

Have heard of it but don't know of any proff besides the anecdotal. Have tried it myself with no conclusions. I still would take normal precautions..

It says here that it is caused by a parasite http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/travel/di..._dysentery.htm
and treated with Metronidazole which is an antibiotic medicine. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria and other micro-organisms called protozoa. http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001644.html
Hope this helps.

GSE is said by some to be the supreme antibiotic and antiviral.

I've tried it a few times without noticable results

great results

love gse!

i gave it to a lot of dehli bellied travellers on my trip. i took it at the first sign of funny tummy. i really had no ill days on my trip. maybe just beginners luck! i have been using it for a gargle, at the first sign of sore throat and as an additive in my neti pot for nasal passage cleaning.

so far no illness since i started using it!

As I have already had one bout of amoebic dysentery in recent years and am not too keen on a repeat experience - especially the Metronidazole treatment, I am interested in this GSE alternative.

Is there are sound medical evidence for its use in the prevention and treatment of amoebic dysentery or is it a matter of faith?

Don't mess with iffy treatments for Amoebic as I know too well. It can change your life (and shorten it) if it gets established and goes to your liver. On the other hand loose bowel movements are are rarely due to that but to more mundane causes like change of diet. Get a stool sample tested for persistant problems and consult a doctor. This is one that doesn't go away like Baccillary does..
